IRVING, Texas --
With an Anthony Spencer decision looming and the possibility of pursuing top cornerback help, it'll be interesting when and if the Cowboys address unrestricted free agent Laurent Robinson.

Robinson is their most important decision after Spencer, and this stat shows just how consistent he was as the No. 3 receiver last season: He was one of six players in Cowboys history to catch a touchdown in at least five straight games.

Frank Clarke, 7, 1961-62
Bob Hayes, 7, 1965-66
Terrell Owens, 7, 2007
Frank Clarke, 6, 1963
Bob Hayes, 6, 1966-67
Michael Irvin, 6, 1995
Jason Witten, 5, 2010
Laurent Robinson, 5, 2011

When Robinson signed a minimum salary benefit contract in September, he had four touchdown catches in four seasons with Atlanta and St. Louis. He had 11 in 2011.

Due to the nature of Robinson's contract, the Cowboys can speak with Robinson's camp now but can't finalize a deal until March 13. His market value could rise a little with several top free agent wideouts unlikely to hit the market. DeSean Jackson got the franchise tag Thursday, and
Wes Welker
, Dwayne Bowe, Stevie Johnson and Vincent Jackson could all be next.

The Cowboys don't have a clear replacement for Robinson, though, unless you agree with Jerry Jones' suggestion last week that undrafted receiver Andre Holmes could step up in 2012.

Thanks to Romo.

Romo and his ability to scramble has a way of making #3's look good.

Even Crayton was considered irreplaceable by some fans.

Take a reasonable/respectable deal, or leave. Dwayne Harris or <please>Joe Adams</please> will more than adequately suffice.

I agree. If he truly wants to be a Cowboy he'll take less to stay. If not, you're right we need to move on. I'm willing to bet Jerry makes him a good offer because he's all about continuity.

In fact, the more I think about it, I don't even want to re-sign Robinson.

I don't think it's smart resource management to tie millions into a third receiver. Those are the types of guys you replace.

Especially when you have the skill position talent that we have.

Let Robinson go. Give Harris a shot. Give Holley some looks (he literally caught everything thrown his way last year). Use more two TE sets. Have Felix and Murray line up in the backfield, and then motion one of them to the slot. Draft Joe Adams. Give Radway or Holmes some looks. Draft DeCastro and work to becoming a respectable running team and employ a heavy dose of play action passes.

Theres so much you can do. And there's so many holes on this team defensively and along the Oline that I kind of hate giving a third receiver 3+ million a year.
