Report: Denver QB Manning's passing yardage record being reviewed
FOX Sports
UPDATED DEC 31, 2013 12:15 PM ET

Will Peyton Manning lose the record for total passing yardage? Upon further review, he just might.

According to ESPN.com, Manning’s 7-yard completion to Eric Decker with just over a minute remaining in the second quarter in Sunday’s 34-14 win over the Oakland Raiders is under review.

Citing sources, the article states that the record keepers at the Elias Sports Bureau routinely review plays – and that this one will merit a close look.

Manning passed New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on the final play from scrimmage for the Broncos prior to halftime, a five-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas, then did not play the second half. He edged Brees’ 2011 record by one yard.

The question is whether the pass was a lateral, which would make it a running play, or not.

According to the article, if the play stands, Manning will keep the record, but if it is ruled a run, he would be credited with 5,470 yards for the season. While that would still easily be a career mark for Manning, it would only be the second-highest season total in league history.

I don't.

I think it would be hilarious if he stopped playing as soon as he thought he got the record and then found out he actually came up short of it. Imagine that... sitting there the entire second half thinking he's got the season record for passing yards and all the sudden he finds out the rug has been pulled out from under him.

Fuck him.

Start all over next year, jackass.
