It sounds like the Washington Redskins are preparing to once again dive whole-hog into the veteran free agent market.
The NFL's Jason La Canfora cites team sources who say Washington is gearing up to make a run at several big-name free agents, a strategy they've employed often in the past that hasn't really worked out as of yet.
La Canfora says the Redskins' primary objective will be to sign Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, presumably to replace Santana Moss as the No. 1 target for whoever ends up as the quarterback. In one career game against the Cowboys, Holmes had three catches for 82 yards, including a 47-yard dagger in the fourth quarter, when he beat Terence Newman deep.
The Redskins' wish list is also said to include Baltimore guard Marshall Yanda, a 26-year old who has started most of the last four years for the Ravens. If they can't land him, the team may go after another Ravens O-lineman, tackle Jared Gaither.
Defensive line brothers Cullen Jenkins and Kris Jenkins are also potential targets for Washington. Another possibility would be Giants defensive lineman Barry Cofield.
Any concern out there in Cowboys fandom, or does the general consensus hold that this Dan Snyder spending spree, too, is destined to fail?
