You just took over an expansion team as the GM.

Your entire field of prospective new coaches consists entirely of the 4 head coaches in the NFC East right now.

What order would you rank them in terms of preference?

Try your best to leave teh fan out of this.

Actually, I might move Garrett to number 1. We have seen the other three in action and I don't think any of them will be winning a(nother) super bowl. I'll take a shot on the young guy who seems to have a bright future ahead oh him. If he pans out he will last longer than the other three.

Well that's what makes this interesting.

You have three veteran coaches with big resumes. And one young assistant who looks like he may one day join that class.

Garrett hasn't coached long enough for him to be the number one choice yet.

He has 4 games to his resume, that's it.

Now, I may change my mind in a couple of years, but that's the way I see it in that order.

Yeah but the question isn't who is the most accomplished head coach. It's who would you want to coach your new expansion team? In what order would you rank them in that scenario?

Andy Reid by a country mile.

McNabb is your classic 'good, but not good enough' QB...Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Boomer Esiason, etc...McNabb is too good to replace, but just not good enough to win the Big One. If Reid had a better QB, they'd have a SB ring.

Amazing how much that Eagles roster has turned in ten years, yet the Eagles are always in contention.

I just have to let my stadium architect to reinforce our sidelines with heavy-duty impact steel plates.

What about 2-4?

I would probably switch Coughlin with Garrett but Garrett needs more on his resume to be completely honest about his skill...

That's how I ranked them.

In order of how I would hire them.

Tough.

Reid has dominated the division, and I agree with Phil that had he had a better QB during his tenure (including, if he had drafted Vick), then the Eagles would have won more than one Super Bowl during the past decade.

Knock on Reid is, he refuses to run. Which is normally a staple in the NFC East.

Coughlin is one hell of a coach. He already brought incredible success to one franchise team (didn't Jags go to the AFC Champ their 2nd year?). But he's old.

I really don't have much of an interest in Shannahan.

While I love what I see in Garrett, I question whether or not with his youth and relative inexperience if building a team from the ground up would be too much for him at this point in his career.

The fan in me would take the risk, because I do like his youth, I do think he's intelligent, and I do think he has great command of the team, and I'd like to have the same guy in command (assuming there was some success) for 10-15 years.

But from a more sensible standpoint, I don't think you could NOT take Reid.

So . . .

Reid
Garrett
Coughlin
Shannahan

That's why I put Garrett last.

Not sure he could do it with a new team from scratch.
