Report: Vikings waive Randy Moss
Email Print Comments97 ESPN.com news services

Randy Moss has been waived by the Vikings just weeks after Minnesota traded a third-round draft pick to the New England Patriots for the receiver, the NFL Network reported Monday.

Following the Minnesota Vikings' 28-18 loss to the New England Patriots, the Vikings receiver announced that he would not be answering any more questions from the media for the rest of the season.

Moss had not spoken to reporters since Oct. 13, taking a $25,000 fine from the NFL for failing to cooperate with the media. The money didn't sway him to open up last week in the days leading up to his return to New England, which traded him to the Vikings on Oct. 6.

"I got fined $25,000 for not speaking to you all. Me, personally, I really don't care," Moss said. "But at the same time, I do answer questions throughout the week. For the league to fine me $25,000, I'm not going to answer any more questions for the rest of this year. If it's going to be an interview, I'm going to conduct [it]. ... I'll ask myself the questions, then give y'all the answers. So from here on out, I'm not answering any more questions for the rest of this season."

In four games with the Vikings, Moss had 13 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings were 1-3 in those games, including Sunday's 28-18 loss at New England.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

What a double standard. Favre is the biggest distraction in the league and he's playing like shit. Unless there is something we don't know, this is really shocking.

He opened that offense up, Harvin was having a field day with coverage rolled to Moss. Whatever, it hurts their chances, what little chance they have anyway.

Word is that Moss quit on a certain play---say what? And it was that play Favre got hurt and had he not got hurt and Moss not quit on tha tplay, the Vikings could have possibly won the game. But to top that, Moss went on to badmouth the Vikings and Childress, and praise the Patriots and Belicek. You cannot badmouth the coach and team when you had went out and quit on a play.

Teams likely to consider claiming Randy Moss on waivers: Cowboys, Redskins, Rams, Bears, Dolphins, Raiders, Chiefs, Jets, Patriots.

And Seattle, after failed attempts to trade for Brandon Marshall and Vincent Jackson, also would be a potential Randy Moss destination.

Hard to criticize the move since we don't know how he was in the locker room.

But they better have a good reason to release that kind of talent.

Maybe they figure this is a down year for them and he won't behave during it. I can't say I disagree with that.

He'll be a Redskin shortly.

It would be a foregone conclusion pre-Shanahan.

Word is that Moss is still a Viking at this very moment, meaning that he is not available for waivers just yet. However, he will be cut supposedly according to Childress. Funny thing is, Childresss told the team as in the players and coaches that Moss would be cut, but he has NOT told MANAGEMENT of this. Childress... you're gone after this season. LOL!!!

Are you kidding ? I hope he stays at least another year. Didn't he sign a big extension this offseason ? I hope so....
