Randy Moss, Donovan McNabb take shots at Jason Garrett

Posted by Darin Gantt on July 10, 2014, 10:13 AM EDT

When the Cowboys go to training camp, all eyes will be on quarterback Tony Romo as he comes back from back surgery.

But the blame for their recent woes is being pointed straight upstairs, specifically at head coach Jason Garrett.

Former NFL stars Randy Moss and Donovan McNabb each had pointed comments for the Cowboys’ coaching staff in a segment on FOX Sports, via the Dallas Morning News.

“When you look on paper, it’s every year that the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders have a lot of talent on their team,” Moss said. “I mean, talented, top-end players. For the Dallas Cowboys to keep sputtering every year, it’s not the players – some of it falls on the players – but go on up top and see what’s going on. . . .

“The thing that’s not really fair to Tony Romo is he really hasn’t had that coaching to be able to bring him along. I’m not sitting here busting Garrett or trying to call Garrett out, but there has not been nothing steady in Dallas. It’s always coaches come and go.”

McNabb was even more pointed in his criticism of Garrett.

“I’m still figuring out how he still has a job at this particular point the way we have continued to see this team just continue to crumble,” the former Eagles quarterback said. “You can’t fire Wade Phillips and hire Jason Garrett and Jason Garrett’s doing worse than Wade Phillips was doing. That’s just not going to get it done. What team is going to follow that?”

Garrett has been able to survive this long, but his 29-27 record and three straight 8-8 finishes have invited the criticism.

I do have problems with Garrett clapping his hands after missed field goals, stupid penalties, bonehead turnovers - being seen mouthing "that's okay" and shit while patting butts. No, it is NOT okay. He reinforces poor results. He learned that from Wade, not Jimmy that is for sure. Wade is alot the same in that regard - first and foremost, he wants to be the players' buddy.

When your head coach is directly to blame for losing games as Garrett has been (Green Bay/Arizona/Detroit/etc) then he needs to be fired. Talent or no talent.

Yeah, but when the GM is responsible for 18 years or mediocrity, he should have been fired way before Garrett.

Wow. I do not think I have ever agreed with a single thing Donovan McNabb has said, until now.

You may or may not like either one of them( Moss and McNabb), but are they lying? We know the answer.

Randy Moss is rambling on about a bunch of nonsense. But McNabb makes a solid point for once. Garrett has no business coaching this team.
