1(25) Dallas Cowboys: Devon Still, DE/DT, Penn State
The Cowboys had the option of picking J.J. Watt at No. 9 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. They went with Tyron Smith, who has been great thus far, but they're hurting at the defensive end position as a consequence.
Devon Still is enjoying a tremendous 2011 campaign and has vaulted himself into mid-first-round consideration.
2(58) Dallas Cowboys: Brandon Jenkins, DE/OLB, Florida State
Anthony Spencer has been hot and cold this year. He'll be a free agent in March. I doubt Dallas will want to pay him the money he's looking for, so Jerry Jones may spend an early selection on a replacement.
3(88) Dallas Cowboys: Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt
Terence Newman won't be around much longer, so the Cowboys could stand to acquire some secondary depth.

1(18) Dallas Alfonzo Dennard Nebraska CB Height: 5'10" Weight: 205
Terence Newman will turn 34 at the beginning of next season, Mike Jenkins is set as one starter, Orlando Scandrick is best on the slot, and then there's Alan Ball and Frank Walker -- that roll call combined with Rob Ryan's pressure defensive schemes targets CB as a position of need for the Cowboys. Alfonzo Dennard is a technician and comfortable in both man and zone defensive schemes, plays much taller than 5'10" due to his outstanding vertical and demonstrates a willingness to support the run defense with an aggressive tackling style (which may shame Jenkins away from his "business decision" attitude). Does not possess top-end speed (although clocked as low as 4.4 in the forty) but makes up for it in recognition and reaction time, and minimizes unnecessary movements due to fluid hips that allow him to turn and run with the receiver without additional steps. Value equals need as Dallas makes an excellent addition to their defensive backfield.
2(50) Dallas Markelle Martin Oklahoma State FS Height: 6'1" Weight:195
Dallas signed 2 veteran safeties in the shortened 2011 free agency period to 1 year deals: FS Abram Elam from Cleveland and SS Gerald Sensabaugh, who was with the Cowboys last year. Both have performed well this year, as the back-end of the Cowboy defense has been much improved, but will Jerry reward either with a large contract? Methinks not, as memories of the Ken Hamlin ("one year wonder") contract are still all too fresh. Don't get me wrong, Elam is having a good year but is limited athletically (even though he plays smart). Markelle Martin has no such limitations, as he is a top center-fielder in this year's draft class. The Dallas roster has 2 heir-apparent candidates to replace SS Gerald Sensabaugh (should they decide not to extend his one-year deal) - Barry Church and Danny McCray, but a play-maker in the secondary would allow Ryan to gamble more with his pressure packages, knowing there is speed behind the CB's he leaves on an island.

23. Dallas, Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
Dal team needs: OG, CB, DE, WR
Alfonzo Dennard is a 5-foot-10, 205-pound senior from Rochelle, Ga who had 4 INTs and 7 PBUs last year. He returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown in the NU regular-season win at Washington. Dennard was good enough to consider jumping to the NFL last season, but obviously elected to return. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last season despite being overshadowed by New York Giants first-round draft pick and teammate Prince Amukamara
