Why does Jerry Jones think Romo is the second coming? To me he is just a slightly above average QB.
Rainer Sabin: I don't think Jerry Jones thinks Romo is the second coming. But Romo has proven to be one of the better quarterbacks in the league during the period when he has played. Has he won consistently in the postseason? No. But he is better than "slightly above average."
Why do people who pretend to know so much know so little? For example the returner AOA was horrendous, yet it take half a season before Jerry Jones and Mr. serious go you know what anyone is better than him! Dwayne Harris, Dez Bryant, Newman... anyone other than AOA the list of dumb call goes on and on...
Rainer Sabin: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah was a failed draft pick. He just didn't have the skill-set required to be an impact player in the NFL.
If we could get 130 rushing a game I think we can beat anybody in the NFL. Without that, I don't think we can even beat the giants for a playoff spot. Agree?
Rainer Sabin: Obviously, I think it's important that the Cowboys have success running the ball. But it would be crazy for me to day that if they get 130 rushing yards they automatically win. After all, if you told me the Cowboys would hold the Cardinals to 13 points at the end of regulation and Patrick Peterson would have accumulated one measly return yard, I would have said Dallas wins that game. But to get back to your point, the Cowboys do need to run the football well if they have designs on winning in December.
I didn't see the game but I have seen enough of Terrance Newman to know that he is targeted in crunch time and he hates to tackle - please, from an educated football perspective, tell me what is it about Newman that allows him to keep a job that the fans dont see?
Rainer Sabin: Maybe it's the fact that the coaching staff has more faith in Newman than the other players on the roster. Don't forget that before the Buffalo game last month, Newman had burned at a lower rate than 332 defenders in the NFL. He's played poorly the last couple of weeks. But earlier in the season he provided good coverage.
Here is my problem.. We only scored 13 points. Right now, the 49ers average more points per game than we do.. I'm sorry, but Boyz need an OC (Norv if he's fired or Sporano if he's fired) Garrett's offense is not finding the endzone enough. Any chance an OC for next year? I like Garrett as a head coach and organizational guy. I think he still needs a little help.
Rainer Sabin: I don't see that happening. Garrett wants to stay engaged with the offense by formulating a gameplan and calling plays. I don't think he would voluntarily relinquish those duties and owner Jerry Jones seems to think Garrett is better suited having complete control over one aspect of the team.
What are three things the Cowboys have to watch out for when facing the Giants?
Rainer Sabin: They have to watch out for blitzes up the middle, Victor Cruz and the Giants controlling the ball with their running game.
Let's say that Rob Ryan gets a HC job offer -- what would Jerry Jones do? I ask this because then we would have to learn a complete new scheme because the only other coach that runs a similar scheme is Rex Ryan so what happens then?
Rainer Sabin: I think Jerry Jones makes an effort to keep him. But I could see him looking at a candidate on Ryan's defensive staff or any coordinator that runs a 3-4 defense. Ryan's defense is predicated on basic fundamental schemes.
Is the line not opening enough holes for Murray. He had MB III rushing numbers against the Cards.
Rainer Sabin: The interior of the line performed badly and the Cowboys didn't have fullback Tony Fiammetta to clean up the mistakes. However, defenses are now gearing up to stop Murray. He is facing a lot of eight-man fronts.
Is Rob Ryan as good as the hype or did he start off fast and now is leveling off.
Rainer Sabin: I think Ryan has revamped the defense. The Cardinals produced only 13 points in regulation. If the Cowboys scored more than that total, no one would be complaining about Ryan's management.
Will Chapas go back to the practice squad or did he do enough to stay on the roster
Rainer Sabin: I think he is destined to go back to the practice squad. But Martellus Bennett's injury could force the Cowboys to keep him on the roster. That's because tight end John Phillips, who also serves as a fullback, would assume Bennett's role. Then again, the Cowboys could be content to go with Tony Fiammetta as the lone fullback. He has been cleared to practice this week after dealing with an inner-ear problem that caused him to miss the last three games.
Two weeks ago, i read that players were gushing over how Garretts attention to detail in practicing end-of-half/game scenarios helped them. How can anyone then explain the disorganization on the field the last two games? Late to get kicking teams on the field and ready not once, but twice? Is it an issue the players is this on the coaches?
Rainer Sabin: It is perplexing. Garrett has talked about situational football since the very beginning of training camp. Yet there was obvious confusion that led to the disastrous results at the end of regulation. The players seemed surprised when Garrett called a timeout because they had practiced this scenario.
You can talk all the timeout gaffes you want, but when it comes down to it, football is 60 minutes of 'mano y mano' and our 'mano's' simply weren't as good as thier 'mano's' Sunday. Pretty scary performance by the Boy's with Eli, Cruz and Co. headed into town Sunday, wouldn't you think?
Rainer Sabin: It was very discouraging. That's for sure. The interior of the Cowboys' offensive line was extremely vulnerable. Look for teams to attack through the center and guard positions after Arizona had so much success blitzing up the middle. This game raised a lot of doubts about the Cowboys going forward.
The question isnt about the timeout. Isn't the question why Ryan's defense goes soft late in the game when it really counts?
Rainer Sabin: I disagree. The defense did crumble again late in the game. But if the superior team allows only 13 points it should win the game. The offense's poor execution was the main reason the Cowboys left the desert again with a loss.
