There hasn’t been much of a market for cornerback Mike Jenkins‘ services since free agency opened, but that could be changing.

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that the Raiders have interest in Jenkins, who will almost certainly not be returning to the Cowboys for a sixth season. Watkins reports “nothing is finalized” between player and team, although it’s not clear if that means a visit, a contract offer or something else entirely.

Jenkins wanted a trade out of Dallas when Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne came to town, but it never came to fruition as the Cowboys, who drafted Jenkins in the first round of the 2008 draft, decided to keep him for depth before Jenkins became an unrestricted free agent. He wound up playing 13 games and starting two last season.

Jenkins would seem to be a fit for a team in desperate need of some experience on the corners. Jenkins fell out of favor in Dallas with the arrival of Carr and Claiborne in 2012, but he made 43 starts between 2009 and 2011 and, based on the current depth chart, profiles as a starter in Oakland.

Can't wait to maybe get a compensatory pick for him in 2014.

Good thing we held onto him. He was significant part of all the success we had last season. Plus, who needs an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick this year anyway?

So reggie mckenzie is constantly talked about as a brilliant personel guy and people apparently love him...

and his offseason moves are apparently going to be to sign Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins?

what gives?

You all know he will ball for a real organization so if he signs with the Raiders he will look like hot garbage there.

The Raiders are one step below us and are literally the black hole of the NFL. Once players go there they disappear.

Not true. Reggie McKenzie is turning that team around. It'll take time to undo the damage that the team faced after years of mismanagement under Al Davis, but he'll turn it around.

Agreed. With big money. Helps us get a comp pick next year.

I think with a decent deal, we can expect a 4th or 5th back for him.

Victor Butler could net us a decent pick too. John Phillips' deal with San Diego might get us a 7th back.

You'll never get to see that day. I will kill you.

Looks like he's only getting interest from the bottom feeders of the league.
