Giants rookie cornerback Prince Amukamara is apparently out for three more weeks at least as he recovers from a broken foot suffered in training camp according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger. Asked about Amukamara today, Coughlin told reporters to ask again "after the bye." Amukamara broke his foot in practice on Aug. 6, so the 8-10 week recovery period Coughlin had hoped would be the case was apparently optimistic. (This is the ninth week.)
"I don't know what the original time frame was," Coughlin said. "Prince is not ready to go, he's not going to be for a while, and we're not going to mess around here. Until he's ready to go ... I really don't ask about him every day, as you could probably tell. I don't know much about that because, to me, it's off somewhere in the distance."
"While I watch him and I see what you see, and I see his reaction to the work, it's very slow, as you would imagine, but it's gradual. And we're making progress. There's no setback."
