Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones has been mostly quiet on team matters since the NFL Scouting Combine in February, but Tuesday at Cowboys Stadium he and executive vice president Stephen Jones will field questions about this week's NFL Draft.

The 12:30 p.m. (CT) press conference is closed to the public. DallasCowboys.com plans to carry it live.

The Cowboys have the ninth overall pick and will hit the clock sometime just before dark on Thursday night, the league's first-round showcase. Friday night is Rounds 2-3; Saturday is Rounds 3-7.

Jones typically meets with the media the week of the draft and tries to be as insightful as possible without giving away the Cowboys' strategy. In other words, we might learn something -- and we might not. Teams aren't exactly forthcoming this close to showtime.

But the NFL lockout provides some unusual circumstances for teams like the Cowboys that have several needs. Jones has said before that a frozen free agency wouldn't affect the team's draft strategy.

What time is Ted Thompson's pre-draft press conference? What's that you say? Never?

I've always assumed this is something every team has done. Guess I never gave it much thought.

But yeah, this is pretty stupid.

One thing I will do, though, is hope to get a good recap, just to compare with what actually occurs on draft day. It'll be interesting to see how much of our intentions we actually disclosed.
