RIP.
I won't pretend I liked this pope. I was born Catholic but I don't practice now. I think Pope Francis was too political and anti-American. Liberalism and Catholicism do not mix. I hope the next pope stays out of American politics, and takes a more traditional approach to the Catholic religion. Religions that change with the times, or adjust for modern morality, are fake to me. If God said something is a sin , then no Pope or mortal man can change it. If they can, then it must not have been God's word in the first place - or the church is fake.
Religions that have allowed gay pastors, for example, are sending a conflicting message. If they allowed this only to gain more followers then they have literally condoned sin to attract sinner with the intent of continuing to sin.
The western world is spiraling into depravity, and more so under the reign of this pope. The new pope needs to send a clear message to Catholics that sin is sin then and now. God's word is God's word. If people will not follow God's word then it is self-defeating to change to keep them as followers.
