Players to meet with Cowboys staff before lockout: 'We don't know what to expect'
By Rainer Sabin / Reporter
The coaching staff for the Cowboys plans to meet with the players this week to discuss the ramifications of a potential lockout, which is expected to ensue if the NFL Players Association and league can't come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement by the end of Thursday.
"Whoever is here is coming in," said fullback Chris Gronkowski. "They want to talk to us and get us on the right track. We're going to talk it over and make sure that we're doing what we need to get done and get a whole workout planned."
For players like Gronkowski, who have been in the NFL for less than a calendar year, the work stoppage presents some unique challenges. After all, they have never experienced a normal offseason since turning pro.
"We don't know what to expect," said safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, who was in the Gronkowski's rookie class last season. "So, we don't know what to do or what not to do. The main thing is to watch your veteran teammates and see what they're doing."
