Bryan McCann’s second game yields his first player of week award

Posted by Mike Florio on November 16, 2010, 5:52 PM EST

Cowboys cornerback Bryan McCann, playing in only the second game of his career, has secured the first defensive player of the week award of his career.

McCann, an undrafted rookie free agent who didn’t start Sunday’s game against the Giants, returned an interception 101 yards for a touchdown and contributed five tackles (including one for a one-yard loss). McCann also broke up a pass.

McCann is only the second rookie in the Super Bowl era to have an interception return of 100 yards or longer. The other came in 2009, when Lions safety Louis Delmas returned an interception for 101 yards.
