The perception of running back Marion Barber outside the Cowboys' headquarters at Valley Ranch is different than the one that exists inside it. Through his actions, Barber has helped create an impression among fans that he is recalcitrant.

For example, he didn't adhere to the dress code implemented by Jason Garrett soon after he was promoted to interim coach last November. Then, later in the season during the Cowboys' 27-26 loss to Arizona, he was flagged for an excessive celebration penalty when he yanked off his helmet following a 24-yard touchdown run.

It's difficult to understand Barber's behavior because he rarely engages with the media. And because he is unwilling to massage his public image or explain himself, most outsiders would use the anecdotal evidence available to conclude that Barber must be difficult to deal with at the workplace.

But Cowboys running backs coach Skip Peete painted a different picture last week.

"Marion is probably one of the most workable guys to deal with I have ever been around," Peete said. "Marion has always set the example. All he says is, 'I want to do whatever I am supposed to do for the team.'"

Last season, while working in a three-man backfield, Barber gained 374 yards in 13 games. His meager production, coupled with the $4.25 million salary he is scheduled to earn next season, has fostered speculation that his standing with the team could be jeopardized. But Peete asserted Barber plays a valuable role and that his ability hasn't diminished.

"I think he is the same he has been," Peete said.

And that is why your ass should be ****ing outta here Peete.

Sets an example? Sure does. By taking some stupid ass penalty. Not following a dress code set by the coach.

And he backs it up with poor, poor play. He brings NOTHING to the table on the field. I don't care how "well" he is in Valley Ranch. They don't play games there.

To hell with you and Barber.
