@AdamSchefter 2m NFL and NFLPA are on verge of pushing back draft to May and moving up start of league year to before combine, per sources.


You'd think the NFL was broken before Goodell got in office.

whats the significance of moving the league year?

also why move it? it's almost perfect. If anything move it to the slow period when the NHL and MLB playoffs wrap up and people pretend to care about baseball for a month. Dumb.

It keeps them in the head lines longer. The draft being pushed to May means that they don't drop off again into nothingness for 3 months.

Why move it to May? You're mucking up the whole off season calender by doing that.

First off... the rookie OTA's we've already had, those would have to be pushed into a compressed schedule with the already in place June OTA's.

And you'd have the draft going head to head with the NBA Playoffs. The NFL avoids playing games during the World Series. Are they going to do the draft during the NBA Finals?

If anything, the draft should move closer to the end of the season. Hell... make it the week after hte combine wraps up.

Do you guys think maybe it's because the draft has sort of become more popular and more time means more profit from draft events, etc.? Just a thought. Wasn't making that claim. I just don't get why.

I like when people RT Schefter. They know everyone follows him so it's basically like a "hey I know this thing".

It's like ppl dying suck but it's worth it to be the one to tell people so and so died

This is exactly what it's all about. I heard about this a few months ago that they were planning this for just that reason, to make the NFL a year-round attraction.

I liked it better when the draft was right after the Super Bowl. They should at least put it before the start of the FA period.
