It's been reliably reported to me that Dolphins defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and some of his staff would like to work their way from Miami to Dallas to join Jason Garrett. League rules prevent this from happening, but the power of persuasive talk might work.

That was all he mentioned about it, at the bottom of an article.

Interesting, nonetheless.

Nolan is another proven DC.

He hasn't had a good head coaching resume, but he sure can coach the 3-4 defense.

I'd love to have him here.

Miami would have to let him go, and I just don't see that happening.

I also don't think Todd Bowles, if the scenario arose where Nolan was allowed to come here, would follow.

Maybe Sporano tells Ross he's comfortable with promoting Bowles to DC, and the Dolphins let Nolan go?

You mean Sparano, but yeah.

With that cluster f*** in Miami anything is possible right now

If Ross is dumb enough to not interview a minority candidate, he's dumb enough to let Nolan go.

Well, for me, if my assistants are telling me they want to go, would I really want to keep them? I want coaches who want to be there.

It's not totally out of the question just because he's under contract there.

And it shows how highly regarded Garrett is that some quality names want to coach on his staff.

I think it does hint at that, as well as they see the situation in Dallas as FAR more stable than that cluster f in Miami

Capers is who I want, I'd settle for Nolan.

He can wear the fuck out of a reebok sideline suit.

What if we give the assistant head coach/DC title to Nolan, that would be considered a promotion, correct?

Then the Dolphins wouldn't have no choice.

No, the Assistant Head Coach title is a false one. the NFL does not recognize it. This a rule change from several years back. Your either a Coordinator, Position Coach or Head Coach.

Apparently I'm wrong again. Damnit.

Has a team ever allowed a coordinator to make a lateral move? If not, the "gift of persuasion" is crap.
