First change at Cowboys practice today is Full Pads. Was told this will be every Wednesday from here on out.

2nd change, the head coach is actually watching special teams practice instead of getting his morning workout.

IRVING, Texas -- The Jason Garrett era of the Dallas Cowboys started on Wednesday, and it had a different feel than the Wade Phillips regime.

Garrett, who took over for Phillips as the interim coach on Monday, had his new team practice in full pads for the first time since training camp.

The Cowboys who are 1-7 and mired in a five-game losing streak visit the New York Giants on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.

Garrett said he expects a different effort from the one Phillips got the first eight weeks of the season. That effort placed this team in last place in the NFC East and made it one of just two one-win teams in the league.

Not only were the Cowboys in full pads, but players jogged to team stretching exercises during the 20 minutes the media was allowed to watch practice on Wednesday.

"Everybody moving, everybody moving," Garrett yelled out to the players under a clear sunny day.

As the special teams drills were going on, Garrett barked out to several players.

There were two noticeable absences from practice in starting linebackers Bradie James (knee) and Anthony Spencer (neck), who are nursing injuries.

I will be "impressed" when there are tackling drills going on and the effort is there on gameday.

I like Jasons approach that he is trying to take. I just hope it can have a little effect even though its to late to save the season. lol

Whaddya know? A real head coach.

You ever listen to Jimmy's players? They all agree that practice was so tough and physical and the head coach so demanding, that the games became the easy part of the week.

I'm sure there's a fine line. You don't want to beat down your own team. But you can't have it the way Wade had it.
