From Todd Archer:
The other half of the coaching change created when Wade Phillips was fired has now come: Paul Pasqualoni will be the Cowboys defensive coordinator for the rest of the season.
Currently the defensive line coach, Pasqualoni is the only assistant coach with experience as a coordinator in a 3-4 scheme. Dave Campo has been a coordinator in the past but not in a 3-4.
Pasqualoni spent 2008 and '09 as Miami's defensive coordinator in 2008 and '09. He was fired after the season but quickly re-joined the Cowboys in the playoffs after Todd Grantham decided to leave for the University of Georgia.
Pasqualoni joined the Cowboys as tight ends coach in 2005 and moved to linebackers in 2006, where he spent two years.
In 2008 Miami's defense allowed just 19.8 points per game and last year's unit finished fourth in third-down percentage and lead the league in sacks per attempt.
An incredibly detailed coach, players like Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware credit Pasqualoni with their development. He is considered a no-nonsense task master and he will get the final eight games to see if he can help turn around a defense that has fallen way off.
