The Green Bay Packers are off to a 2-0 start but they’re reeling after the loss of Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins.

Coach Mike McCarthy announced Collins will miss the remainder of the season after he was taken off the field in Carolina on Sunday on a stretcher. He has a neck injury. It is not yet known if he will require surgery.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, it is not a fracture or spinal-cord related. Collins will meet with specialists before deciding what to do next, but he won’t be playing football this season.

"Fortunately we have a guy in Charlie Peprah that played an awful lot of football for us last year and played well,” defensive coordinator Dom Capers said. “Morgan Burnett is off to excellent start. He’s had back-to-back very good games for us. We’ll have to go from there. There’s no question that Nick will be missed.”

Yep, sucks to lose a guy like Collins in your secondary. Injuries are piling up this year.

Lack of OTA's and mini camps are hurting teams. Lockout hurt the players.

That hit to the head looked pretty benign compared to most.

Surgery or not if he has a stenosis condition ala Michael Irvin the risk factors may prevent him from ever playing again.

Sucks to be Collins. Hopefully it's not as serious as the scenario they're painting so far.

The Pack secondary was looking weak this year with him but this team has depth like no other.

I'm sure they will fart out another Pro Bowl safety.

Sorry, I dont have any sympathy for other teams injuries right now, not when it seems like 1/3 of our team is hurt.
