Orsborn - Cowboys’ Ryan: ‘They all will know how good I am after this game’

IRVING – The media used to give Wade Phillips a hard time about being defensive and insecure.
It seemed like a week rarely went by while he was with the Cowboys that he didn’t remind reporters how long he’d been coaching in the NFL. Often times, he’d also offer his won-loss record, or point to some other line on his resume, as proof he really was “Mr. Fix It.”
Phillips is gone, but it appears as though the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator also can be a bit sensitive when it comes to what he perceives to be negative press coverage.
In a session with reporters Monday, Ryan indicated that he’s well aware that the defense’s poor performance during the preseason has been used as ammunition for pundits eager to point out the Cowboys won’t make the playoffs this season.
“I’ve been an assistant coach of the year in pro football and in college football, so apparently I’m pretty good,” Ryan said. “No one else believes it, but they all will after this game.”
Sounds like a guarantee of sorts that the Cowboys defense will have its way with Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Co. on Sunday night.
