IRVING, Texas -- Cornerback Orlando Scandrick will have surgery a week from today to repair his left index finger he initially hurt in an organized team activity workout last May, according to a source.
Scandrick suffered the injury on a Jon Kitna throw and missed the mini-camps after having surgery but returned for the first day of training camp. During the season he wore a splint underneath his glove for added protection but had little range of motion and strength in the digit all year. He did not miss a game all season and had one interception and 2.5 sacks.
The Cowboys figure to have a number of players undergo off-season surgery. Right tackle Marc Colombo said he was unsure if he would have to have surgery on his left elbow. Linebacker Bradie James played most of the year with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament but will not need an operation.
