IRVING, Texas -- Michael Crabtree used to work the concession stands at Texas Stadium, growing up. Well, working might be a stretch.
“I was watching the games,” Crabtree said. “I pretty much let my mom do all that. I was watching the games. I’d find somebody’s open seat and I was watching the games. Going down there, stealing Michael Irvin’s towel and the next weekend wearing it to my games.”
Sunday Crabtree, the Carter High School grad and San Francisco wide receiver, will play his first game against his former favorite team when the Cowboys visit Candlestick Park. A first-round pick in 2009, Crabtree has yet to explode on the scene for the Niners in part because of the unstable quarterback situation and a nagging foot injury he had before entering the NFL.
He has 104 catches for 1,370 yards and eight touchdowns in 28 games.
Crabtree said the foot injury does not scare him.
“It’s football,” Crabtree said. “It’s going to happen. I try not to get frustrated, have fun out there. That’s what I’ve tried to concentrate on.”
