Mr. Goodell,

FUCK YOU.

I can honestly say I despise everything about you and the way you run the NFL. Virtually every decision you have made and every idea you have come up with and promoted I truly believe sucks. The game itself has become a lesser product on the field every year since you have taken over, and it will only continue to get worse with each day that you are allowed to stay in that position.

My letter today is not about what I think of Michael Sam. I really don't care that he has chosen to be gay. I might not like it, but that's his choice. My letter is not to say that I oppose gay people being involved with the sport that I enjoy watching. I honestly don't care. What I am genuinely appalled about however is that you used this guys gayness as an opportunity to gain political points and use it as a marketing ploy. The 3 days of draft coverage should be about DRAFT COVERAGE. Instead, you made it into a laughable reality TV program in the hopes that it will net you and your stupid fuck owners even more money and marketing exposure.

That entire Michael Sam thing was 100% orchestrated and it was painfully obvious. I hate you and now 100% hate the NFL Network and Rich Eisen, and will never tune in draft coverage via their network again. In fact I might choose to never watch the channel again at all.

In closing, fuck you. You are the worst thing that has ever happened to the league.

Best regards

DB

You guys are on the wrong side of history. Look back at how people reacted to Jackie Robinson and how ignorant they appear now. I'm not saying being gay is the same as being Black so please save that ignorant take. I'm only using it because neither being gay or Black or Irish or Jewish or anything that people want to rage against that is different, should have anything to do with whether or not someone should be able to participate in.

At the end of the day this has no impact on your life unless you make it one. Change the channel, don't react to it, and if you're religious, believe in your faith and how it deals with judging others. Do I want to watch Michael Sam kiss his boyfriend on draft coverage? Nope. Does it effect how I feel about football? Nope. I realize it's important for the gay community and again, has no real impact on my life.

And I wouldn't have cared, except they forced it down our throats.

He isn't the first gay player in the NFL anyway. Do I have incite into who others may be? Not really, but I am sure there have been some, maybe even alot. And nobody cared.

I also don't like it because I am sure Goodell strong armed someone into picking him late, so they could orchestrate that whole crap we saw the last hour or two. It was no coincidence that NFLN replayed the same Michael Sam story again right about the time he was gonna be drafted. And he didn't do it for the good of Michael Sam or the gay community, he did it for money and political points.

Does the SEC Defensive Player of the Year usually go undrafted?

The NFL, and almost any other organization, will promote something if they think it will make them more money. There will be more interest from the gay community which means more money. In the end, he's a 7th round tweener. If he makes the team, some will feel it's just because he's gay. If he gets cut, some will feel it was just because he's gay.

I really don't care but I'm embarrassed of some people and their hateful reactions. It's only a big deal for those who want to make it a big deal, both sides.

That's a fair point. obviously no. But the guy was pretty much a 1yr wonder and had one of the worst combine workouts ever, indicating he might not be an overly talented guy.

I agree, and I also believe Goodell forced someone to take him because he didn't want the press of "NFL rejects openly gay player and that's why he wasn't picked". That's the part I don't like.

The fact is every scout was going to know he was gay before the draft anyway. Missouri's team knew, how was the league not going to know?

I didn't have a hateful reaction. Again it doesn't bother me that he's gay. What bothers me is if I want to see politics and the virtues of political correctness, I can turn on news channels or read news sites. I don't want it shoved down my throat via sporting events or sports leagues. I watch sports because I enjoy the sport, not because I want to be enlightened on how I should think.

I get that. Again, I wasn't thrilled to look up and watch them kiss.

I think you just have to brace yourself for it being covered a lot when training camp starts, his first preseason game, whether or not he makes the 53, and if he does, the first game and maybe his first sack. I think this will stop being a big deal about 4 weeks into the season and then we can get back to the proper use of our hatred, towards Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett.

The only thing I "hate" about it is that a mans sexuality is being celebrated. And everyone is talking about what an incredible wonderful thing this is.

The reality is WGAS. I don't care who's gay or isn't. It has nothing to do with football.

And then all the media asks current players even in other sports. Oh LeBron James gave a cookie cutter good for Michael Sam answer. That's newsworthy. Meanwhile, some NFLer tweeted "horrible" after the selection and his team has said they will reprimand him for it.

Give me a fucking break.

Outrageous if true. The forces of “tolerance” are intolerant of anything less than full-blown celebratory approval of gays and their lifestyle. In a free society, you should be able to pan the pick like any other draft pick without fear of reprisal.

His kissed his boyfriend on TV?

Huh, didn't now that.

Guess because I didn't give a shit to watch the last 10 picks of the 7th round.

At pick 249 of 256, you aren't forced to do a fucking thing.

Wgas?

A fag got drafted and kissed his boy-toy on national tv. Go back to the pre-Goodell draft format and I'll be happy. I really don't care if Michael Sam likes penis, but Goodell can burn in hell for the new draft format.

Ha, guess I missed all this yesterday.

Pretty much with dbair and esp. Mid on this one.

I feel sorry for the Rams when he can't play and they cut him. Media's going to crucify them.

I didn't watch the draft. I couldn't find a feed on the internet. Oh well, it's always nerve wracking to me anyway.

Of course they're going to make a big deal of this. It's the first time it's happened. Doesn't matter to me at all. I don't care what this guy is attracted to.

Didn't watch outside of round 1

Paid very little attention to the whole process.

Haven't watched any analysts talking post draft or seen any draft grades.

Would be somewhat of a cool story if the guy actually had pro talent. This was clearly staged by the nfl but I do think Sam's draft value took a hit when he exposed himself to the world. For one, teams don't want that circus, and I think he inadvertently showed a lot of potential suitors that he's not actually very good at football. He probably would have been picked in the 5th round until people actually studied him thoroughly. If you look at that list of SEC defensive award winners, it's pretty meh in general. Lotta busts and flameouts.
