Ogletree is expected to return after some time to rest his hamstring.

OXNARD, Calif. - Second-year wide receiver Kevin Ogletree sat out the second practice of Tuesday because of hamstring soreness, and the Cowboys limited offensive tackle Alex Barron during team drills.

Ogletree wore street clothes and worked with athletic trainers, rehabbing alongside other injured players, while Barron suited out and participated in the individual portion of the workout. Both players had total involvement in the morning practice, essentially a walkthrough with players ditching helmets for baseball caps and visors.

Offensive line coach Hudson Houck said the club is attempting to manage Barron's workload as he returns from an ankle sprain suffered in the preseason opener. He has been named one of the starters for Saturday night's "dress rehearsal" exhibition in Houston. Likewise, it appears Ogletree will be able to play against the Texans.

"He's a little sore," wide receivers coach Ray Sherman said. "He'll be all right; he just needed some rest."

Joining Ogletree and Barron in missing Tuesday's afternoon session were wide receiver Dez Bryant (ankle), tight end John Phillips (knee), guard Kyle Kosier (knee), tackle Marc Colombo (knee), defensive end Marcus Spears, linebackers Keith Brooking (shoulder) and Stephen Hodge (knee) and safety Gerald Sensabaugh (shoulder). None will play against the Texans, and there is a good chance each will be held out of the preseason finale against Miami on Sept. 2 as well.

The Cowboys believe Bryant, Colombo, Spears and Brooking have a good chance to play in the regular season opener at Washington on Sept. 12. Sensabaugh, who suffered a separated shoulder at San Diego on Saturday, and Kosier, who sprained his MCL in practice last week, could possibly miss the first game.

Phillips, who tore his ACL in the first exhibition game, will be placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve on Aug. 31. Hodge is likely headed to the reserve Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he continues to recover from microfracture knee surgery last summer.
