Now out with a groin injury, Terence Newman asked Dave Campo if he was going to be cut last week

Cornerback Terence Newman, now out until the season opener with a groin pull, was admittedly worried about being cut or release when the Cowboys were pursuing Nnamdi Asomugha last week.

He went so far as to ask secondary coach Dave Campo about the rumors.

"He said to me, 'well, I heard you guys are going to cut me'," Campo acknowledged with a chuckle today. "I said, 'I’m not cutting anybody. I’m not cutting anybody.' That’s administrative stuff. That’s Jason Garrett, That’s Mr. Jones and Stephen Jones. I coach the guys we got out here, and to me, I feel really good about the group we’ve got."

That group is minus Newman for a while.

I like Newman, I think he's easily a top 10 corner when completely healthy. But that is almost about never... All we can do is hope that after he heals from this he'll be injury free the rest of the year.

Campo needs to keep his mouth shut though. Thats not something you go and repeat to the media.
