On Friday, Jerry Jones said there might be one player let go before the current collective bargaining agreement expires on Thursday night, but that will not be the case.

There are a number of veteran starters who could still be let go after a new CBA is negotiated, including Leonard Davis, Marc Colombo, Marion Barber, Roy Williams and Terence Newman. However, the Cowboys decided there is no incentive to cut anyone loose before March 4.

Most likely, the Cowboys already know who they plan to move on without, but releasing players now could create more needs in the draft, or at least expose the team's intentions.

The club has decided to only tender contracts to four of the players who would be restricted free agents if the uncapped rules return, and will let several would-be RFAs and unrestricted free agents walk, or at least test the waters.

Among the free agents who won't be locked down are defensive end Marcus Spears, safety Gerald Sensabaugh, guard Kyle Kosier, receiver Sam Hurd and tackle Alex Barron.

Ok I can get with that reasoning. But isn't Colombo due a roster bonus of $2.4 million?
