Dion Caputi @nfldraftupdate
#Saints free agent LG Carl Nicks told SiriusXM that he is seeking a bigger deal than teammate RG Jahri Evans' 7-yr $56.7M deal.

Sign him and draft Cordy Glenn on a trade down. Pick up a 2nd.

Draft Boykin and Minnifield in the 2nd.

Intruiging. But with the extra 2nd I'd draft Branch and Gilmore. You would have a pass rusher opposite of Ware, and a CB opposite of Jenkins.

just dont see jerry doing this for a guard.

Pass rusher, wide reciever, corner ...yes...

but I can not see jerry spending like this on a guard.

You mean like he did with Leonard Davis? Davis was 7 years $49 million.

I wouldn't do that at all. I would rather spread the money around. This team is far from just one guard away from doing anything. Granted it is an important position but I would rather see us sign a tier 2 type free agent guard and sign a DB and perhaps a pass rusher and draft another guard

I'm all for signing Nicks or Grubbs but since Nicks has come out and said he wants big time money, you're right we might need to sign a second tier guard and or draft one.

Like you mentioned we have other holes to fill. No need to blow it on one player when we're not one player away from a super bowl.

exactly like that.

that coupled with ryan young and marco rivera I just dont think he will do it again.

leonard davis represented to jerry a guy who could play three positions and he payed for it because wade wanted it.

I just dont see it happening at guard again ever.

At this point trying to figure out what Jerry would and wouldn't do is pointless. I wouldn't be surprised to see T.O. or Pacman in a Cowboys uniform again simply because there is no telling what Jerry will do if he thinks it will win him a Super Bowl.

The more and more I think about this, the more and more I lean towards the middle of the fence. We've been doing the Nicks dance for a few years now, and like people have noticed, it's always been done under the false assumption that we are always this close to doing something big.

Personally, I'd like to try and find another Kosier type OG in free agency, and make the draft our top offseason priority. I know, I know, it's gonna suck not getting to sign the flashy names, but it will benefit us in the long-term.

Maybe Texan impending free agent and starting OG Mike Brisiel.

edit: nvm, probably just a system player and seems intent on remaining a Texan.

and we should pay the man, then get Decastro and then all we'd lack was a good center. Man talk about a brutal o line we'd have this year!!!
