NFL players rank Romo, Ratliff at Nos. 72, 75

IRVING, Texas -- NFL Network has started the process of ranking the top 100 players in 2011 and so far two Cowboys have cracked the list. Tony Romo came in at No. 72 and Jay Ratliff came in at No. 75.
There are 12 quarterbacks in the top 100, as voted on by 413 players, and Romo is ninth. You’d have to figure Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger are ahead of Romo, who played in only six games in 2010 before breaking his left collarbone. From there you would think Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and Philadelphia’s Michael Vick are in the mix, too.
Baltimore’s Joe Flacco checked in at No. 90 and Tampa Bay’s Josh Freeman was No. 86.
Ratliff’s ranking seems about right. The best part of his segment was the narrative provided by New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin. He bragged on Ratliff’s ability and work ethic, but also how the nose tackle seems to bring the best out of teammates. That’s not been talked about a lot with Ratliff, but Coughlin must see that when they play twice a year.
The Cowboys have six players ranked in the top 100, tied for second with Baltimore and Indianapolis. Only Green Bay has more with seven.
While you can say the players across the league have bought into the hype, you can also picture Jerry Jones shaking his head in agreement. Jones swears by the talent on the roster and has constantly said other team executives have told him that too.
As to the four remaining Cowboys it almost has to be DeMarcus Ware, Jason Witten, Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, no? Who else would be in that mix?
