Starting with the 2013 preseason, security will be confiscating bags if they don't fit the NFL's new criteria. (USATSI)

The NFL announced a change to its bag policy Thursday and beginning with the 2013 season, only clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags will be permitted inside NFL stadiums.

Under the new policy, fans will be allowed to bring one bag into stadiums and that bag must be clear and not exceed 12 inches by six inches by 12 inches.

Chanel, Prada and Gucci might not be on board with the new policy, which will prohibit purses from NFL stadiums. Small clutch bags are still permitted, as long they're no bigger than "the size of a hand."

"Our fans deserve to be in a safe and secure environment," NFL vice president and chief security officer Jeffrey Miller said in a statement. "Public safety is our top priority. This will make the job of checking items much more efficient and effective. We will be able to deliver a better and quicker experience at the gates and also provide a safer environment. We appreciate our fans' cooperation."

Here's a list of items from the NFL that you will not be allowed to bring into stadiums: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Just to be clear: You can still bring a camera, binoculars or a tablet into the stadium, you just can't bring any of those items in a non-clear bag.

So what can you bring into an NFL stadium this year? Here's a picture of a transparent tote bag that would be permissible under the new policy. It's not very fashionable, especially if you don't like the Giants.

Blankets, which don't fall under the NFL's bag policy, are still permitted inside stadiums.

The only exception to the new bag rule is for people bringing medically necessary items into the stadium. Each stadium will have a separate entrance where medically necessary items can be inspected.

The new policy will go into effect beginning with the 2013 preseason.

Every time we as a people make these concessions it emboldens the folks that would harm us. It shows that terrorism works.

All these new laws and widespread survielance and yet the Boston Bombers were able to live here for years and didn't have a problem setting off their bombs. The Russians even alerted us to them.

How about we concentrate on the people who commit 99% of the terrorist acts - Islamists - and not everyone. Just a thought.

In Somalia, we (the Army) searched all men that came in to work on the docks at the Port of Mogadishu. Out of respect to their culture, women were not allowed to be searched.

One night, a Somalian sniper, who we would years later found out was sanctioned by Al-Qaeda, hid when it was time to leave. He climbed up a broken down crane and shot at soldier who was training the Canadian military on how to use our RTCH's (rough terrain container handler). The sniper chose this victim because he had the misfortune of having a spotlight on him so that the Canadians could see his hand signals. Luckily for the soldier, the sniper sucked and his shots hit at the soldier's feet. The Marines, always armed, sprang into action and shot him down from the crane. The sniper survived and during interrogation revealed that his rifle was snuck in underneath a women's gown.

By the way, that soldier was me.

I propose we watch Islamists and anyone who associates with them.

Nice story, by the way. I hope the sniper was killed after you got all the information you needed. No use in wasting money keeping him alive.

I can vouch for this story, as I was sending him email updates about a Cowboys game at the time since he did not have internet access.

^ Nice.

I do remember stalking outside HQ the night of the Superbowl hoping that someone had called home and heard the score. Cowboys playing a Superbowl in southern California (Pasadena) and I had to be on the other end of the Earth. I'd like to believe had we not been deployed in Somalia I would have found a way to attend that game.
