Feel free to skip this. I'm not sure how interesting this'll be to anyone but myself. And I'm really only doing this as a sort of therapy.
- First off, Chicago is a team I looked at before the season and thought to myself, you know, they could be a dark-horse. The problem I had with it was that I knew Green Bay would be a monster, and while I didn't think Minnesota would be near as good as they were last year, I thought they'd at least be around the 9-7 mark. I also thought Detroit would be around 6 wins for the year. So while I wanted to say Chicago was a dark horse, I kinda had a hard time making it work, logistically. Yesterday, they looked fucking good. Which brings me to . . .
- They have a great coaching staff. I mean, that coaching staff is littered with head coaching failures. But back to being position coaches, they're doing one hell of a job. I mean, you look at Mike Tice, and he's just sort of this big, dumb, goofy guy, right? Hell of an offensive line coach. They lose their starting LT in the begining of the game . . . and the line blocks better? Unheard of.
- I'm a homer. I'm proud to be a homer. I can't be a fan of a team if I keep a glass-half full approach. I'm a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. That isn't to suggest I think that because I go all homer-out on the Cowboys, that my positive thoughts have some sort of impact on the game. Obviously not. Rather, thinking positively is something that I do in life, in general. And it's served me well. So I tend to practice it in every facet of my life. When I worked in sales, I went into presentations expecting to get the contract signed. When I was single and would talk to women, I expected to get a number. And when a football season starts, I expect to win the division and possibly more. With that in mind . . .
- I heard on Mike & Mike this morning that in the past 20 years, only 13% of the teams to start 0-2 have gone on to make the playoffs. I think we can beat the odds to do it. In order to do that . . .
- Jason Garrett needs to die. Okay . . . a little extreme, perhaps. But please, can someone tell me how we can't score? I bet you more than half the teams in the league would kill to have HALF the talent on offense that we have. Yet, it's the same old, same old . . . drive the ball down the field, have a stupid penalty, stall. What. The. Fuck. We have honest to God blue chip talent at WR (x2), TE, RB, and QB. And while our offensive line isn't dominant, they played considerably better yesterday. Certainly good enough to put up points.
- Why the fuck are we so one-dimensional??? 51 pass attempts yesterday? Ridiculous. We were never down so far, minus the last 5 minutes of the game, to dictact that kind of offensive playcalling.
- Bench Marion "Dead Legs" Barber. He dances in the background like Barry Sanders, but he's got 20lb cleats.
- Felix Jones needs to handle every kick off.
- Dez Bryant needs to handle every punt return.
- Felix Jones and Tashard Choice need to get the lions share of the carries.
- It's time to start playing with a hair on fire, no holds barred, kill everyone mentality. We have the talent to do it.
- Roy Williams play well. That was encouraging.
- I'm glad Mike Jenkins is okay.
And one more thing . . . regarding coaching . . .
- I'm a results oriented person. That's why I fell off the Parcells bandwagon. I don't give a shit what he did for the Giants or Patriots. I care what a coach does for my football team. And despite the solid personnel moves, Parcells wasn't getting results on the field. Buying top of the line ingredients is pointless if you can only cook toast.
Wade has also had a hand in bringing in top notch talent. But he's not getting results on the field either. And Garrett looks like he can't even boil water without burning it. If we don't turn this ship around, and I mean, if we don't go 10-4 down the stretch and make some noise in the playoffs . . . it's time to get a new coaching staff.
