Murray not POTW, Brees is

Brees had a great game the other night, but I'm not sure how a guy can break the franchise rushing records held by two hall of fame backs, have one of the best rushing days in history and not get a weekly award.

What Murray did was great (he could have easily got it) but Brees looked like a machine, lead his team to 62 points. Went 31 of 35. And scored 5 TDs himself.

I realize Murray's 253 yards rushing will get people homering out but really?

Brees' performance was outstanding, but he's had games like this numerous times since he joined the Saints.

Murray's was a record setting performance for a franchise thats current records were by two of the best RB's of alltime.

I'm not discounting what Brees did at all, he had a great game. But Murray's was an all timer type performance. Brees also routinely puts up huge days, our running game had been dreadful so far this year.

I was kidding about the skin color thing, but I think it's obvious that QB is more glamorous and the NFL is trying to make RBs extinct, so Murray had zero chance at this.

Its somewhat relevant, the running game had really been awful and this guy had a day that was well beyond the norm of what we were doing.

Its also important that he broke two long standing FRANCHISE records, which had been set by Hall of Fame calibar RB's.

I am not saying Brees didnt deserve it, but Murray's day was a little more notable IMO because again, Brees has had amazing games numerous times for the Saints. Murray did something that two hall of fame backs who had exceptional careers didnt do.

Murray should have gotten it...it was the 9th best rushing day of alltime. Passing yards are a little easier to come by.

Hasn't Vick won POTW a few times now? I think it's just the QB position in general. I'm not white, so I'm more than happy to play the racecard though

I don't think it was given to him because of passing yards. He only had 325 yards, not really earth shattering. I think it was more for the 5 TD passes and 31 of 35 completion rate with no INTs. And his team scored 62 points.

If Murray had scored more than once, I'd agree. It would have been a no-brainer. And any other week, he would have got it. But that passing performance was an all-timer, too. Both were deserving, imo.
