They had already ruled him out for the joint practices, now it looks like he is out of the game too:

Injury sidelines Austin for Cowboys' Sunday game

IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin will be held out of Sunday night's game against the San Diego Chargers, according to a source.

Austin tweaked his hamstring while running a route during Tuesday's practice at Cowboys Stadium.

Austin doesn't have a history of hamstring issues, but the Cowboys want to play it safe with the injury.

Kevin Ogletree will likely replace Austin in the starting lineup and last Thursday's star of the game, Dwayne Harris, will be the fourth receiver.

Already thin at the position in terms of experience, the Cowboys will monitor Austin closely.

I'm quite sure that if we played the Jets tomorrow for the first game of the season that Austin would be suited up and ready to play. This is just them being over cautious, which I guess is fine.

More than fine, I'd go as far as saying necessary. With very little experience at the receiver position, and next to nothing left for veteran free agents, that is one of the spots where we could least afford a long term injury.

There's going to be a few on the street after final cutdowns, and possibly a few available via trade as well. I dont think we'll have a problem getting someone if they decide they need one.
