Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered your questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.
lag22 asks ... given Kitna's age and the fact that the Cowboys are out of the playoffs, why hasn't S. McGee been given a chance at playing time to see what he has?
DAVID MOORE: Why? Because the Cowboys have stated their goal is to win. Kitna gives them a better chance to do that. You may disagree with that philosophy, but that is the approach the Cowboys have taken.
Hypo Thetical asks ... If Jerry fell from his suite at the stadium and Stephen took over on Monday, would Stephen hire a GM?
DAVID MOORE: That's a bit dark for the holiday season. Sounds like an edgy version of It's a Wonderful Life for an NFL audience. If that happened, Stephen wouldn't hire a GM. Stephen would be the GM.
pappy asks ... Give me 6 big names who are gone, gone, gone from this team in 2011.
DAVID MOORE: Not sure there will be six big names. The big names - Romo, Ware, Ratliff, etc. - will return. As I said earlier, I doubt that Barber will be here. Roy Williams, Leonard Davis and Marc Colombo are other big names on the bubble.
Ron asks ... I believe the OL needs to be upgraded prior next season. In your opinion, how many current starters will be replaced? Do you see the Cowboys addressing this issue via free agancy, the draft or both?
DAVID MOORE: The needs in the offensive line are so sweeping that they must be addressed through the draft and in free agency. I think Doug Free is safe, either as a left tackle or right tackle. I think the other four spots are all up for grabs. That being said, I doubt if you'll see four starting changes. But I don't think three is out of the question.
