SportsDayDFW Cowboys writer David Moore talked about a number of Cowboys-related issues with readers on Monday afternoon. Here are some of the highlights:

On who the leading candidates for defensive coordinator would be if Jason Garrett gets the permanent gig:

MOORE: Good question. Paul Pasqualoni would have a shot to retain his current title. Green Bay defensive coordinator Dom Capers is another name to keep in mind. I don't know Capers contract situation with the Packers, so it may be moot. But Garrett thinks highly of him.

On if Pasqualoni should be getting more credit for the Cowboys' defensive improvement since Wade Phillips' firing:

MOORE: He has gotten credit. Mixing in more zone has helped. That being said, the defense did fail to close out Thursday's game. It gave up a lot of yards to the New York Giants. The defense has produced more turnovers and had fewer penalties in recent weeks, but it's still not playing nearly as well as it did last season.

On if the Cowboys' defense looks slow to him:

MOORE: When you're out of position chasing people, you tend to look slow. But yes, it would be nice to have more speed in this group. Pasqualoni has an attention to detail that appears to have helped in these three games. He has a chance to stay as defensive coordinator. It depends on how these final five games play out.

I like Capers as much as the next guy but why would he leave Green Bay to come to this hell hole?

Good point...Can you say MONEY.

Jerry could double his salary easy and he still wouldn't be making as much as Jason did as a OC...

I doubt they'd give someone an "assistant head coach" title on Garretts first full year as a head coach.

That would be the only way they could get him out of his contract with greenbay. He can't make a lateral move under contract but he could take a promotion like assistant headcoach. Kinda a loop hole deal...

I understand that would be the only way we'd get him. And with that in mind, I don't even think he'll warrant serious consideration from the organization - right or wrong.

We considered him once but we let Wade's crony nex it , maybe we will interested again since both have been axed.

Here's my thing. I would like to have Capers. But if we don't land him, I say we should go back to the 4-3. Personally, I'm tired of brining in new DCs or HCs that seem to only tweek our current 3-4 defense and yet it never reaches its full potential. However, I would not mind Capers. But I certainly would like to return to the 4-3 with Fox as DC.

If not Capers, then someone off of Pittsburgh's staff.

I don't care if it's the equipment manager. I want that defense.

Yes, our defense is extremely slow. Particularly at LB.

In this draft we need to get more speed at ILB. Matter of fact I wouldn't mind losing both Brooking and James. I'm just so sick of their slow asses.

I think Vic Fangio is a name nobody is mentioning that could end up as DC here. He's currently DC at Stanford with Harbaugh, but is a longtime Capers assistant and was his DC in Carolina (and I think Houston too). If Capers is the guy Garrett wants but he cant leave, he'd likely recommend Fangio.

Speaking of the Steelers defense, Kiesel and Smith will be back this week.

Two very good pieces to that 3-4 puzzle. But yeah, I would want one of their defensive coaches.
