SportsDayDFW Cowboys writer David Moore talked about a number of Cowboys-related issues with readers on Monday afternoon. Here are some of the highlights:
On who the leading candidates for defensive coordinator would be if Jason Garrett gets the permanent gig:
MOORE: Good question. Paul Pasqualoni would have a shot to retain his current title. Green Bay defensive coordinator Dom Capers is another name to keep in mind. I don't know Capers contract situation with the Packers, so it may be moot. But Garrett thinks highly of him.
On if Pasqualoni should be getting more credit for the Cowboys' defensive improvement since Wade Phillips' firing:
MOORE: He has gotten credit. Mixing in more zone has helped. That being said, the defense did fail to close out Thursday's game. It gave up a lot of yards to the New York Giants. The defense has produced more turnovers and had fewer penalties in recent weeks, but it's still not playing nearly as well as it did last season.
On if the Cowboys' defense looks slow to him:
MOORE: When you're out of position chasing people, you tend to look slow. But yes, it would be nice to have more speed in this group. Pasqualoni has an attention to detail that appears to have helped in these three games. He has a chance to stay as defensive coordinator. It depends on how these final five games play out.
