Monday Night Football’ switching to 2-man booth

ESPN said Wednesday that analyst Ron Jaworski had signed a five-year contract extension to appear on other programming on the network and would no longer join play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico and color commentator Jon Gruden on Monday nights.

Jaworski called “Monday Night Football” games the past five seasons. The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will work various ESPN studio shows year-round.

Gruden joined MNF in 2009 after coaching the Raiders and Buccaneers and agreed to a five-year extension in October. This is the first time in 15 years ESPN has used a two-person lead team on its NFL game coverage.

Gruden will have to carry on verbally fellating which ever team is ahead on his own now.

How many booth shakeups has that been now? I love the extra night of football each week, but it's pretty sad that ABC/ESPN can't find two decent people to work the games up there. They have a revolving door of analysts in that company.

The best play by play was Al Michaels and John Madden.

I also loved Summerall when he did the games.

Tirico is sneakily awful.

Espns problem is the personalties. Theyre just goofy , not funny over-talking guys.

Mayocks straight forward approach is awesome

Madden and Summerall were the best. It helped that we were actually good when they worked together.

Mayock is solid. Funny that it took NFL network like 3 years to get it right, and ABC/ESPN is going on like 13 now.

That's most of the reason why espn sucks is because of its play by play.

Let's take Fox for instance, loved Aikman as a player but he sucks as an analyst.

If you include Gruden's batch, it makes at least a 2.5 man booth. seriously ESPN, stop making him wear children's slacks.
