You saw what I saw. What moves do you make today? I'm not asking what do you think Jerry will do, this is what you as General Manager does today and these next few weeks.

Today
I have a meeting with my NFL scouts and I tell them I want them to focus on Guards and Safeties from other NFL teams. I want to be ready to make a move if another team is already out of contention at the Trade Deadline.

I go out a find a fullback. I have one in mind. I would sign Stanley Havili off the Philadelphia Eagles Practice squad. Now, before I get accused of being a USC homer, give me a chance to explain. Havili was one of the best college fullbacks I've seen. For five years (he broke his leg 2 games into one season) he was one of USC's biggest weapons. He reminds me of Roger Craig when he played fullback early on for the 49ers. He isn't a traditional lead blocker but has always been a successful blocker. His signing does a few things.
*Gives us insight into the Eagles offense.
*Gives us another receiver out of the backfield (84 career receptions in college)
*Gives us a short-yardage back. He's 6'1" 230 lbs and has great vision.

I would trade and/or most likley cut Choice to sign him. He just doesn't seem to belong here. He and Garrett don't seem to be on the same page. If I'm wrong and Garrett wants to keep Choice, I waive Tanner. We need a fullback and short-yardage guy on this roster.

I ask our medical staff if Laurent Robinson is ready to play now and if not, waive him. We need a WR that can contribute now so that we don't have to depend on a gimpy Dez Bryant in a crucial game. If Garrett can't trust Holley and Harris in that situation, I have to go out and find someone he can trust.

Future
I have a long talk with Jason about hiring an Offensive Coordinator. I am a big fan of the discipline and accountability that he brings as our Head Coach but his playcalling is confusing at best sometimes. I also need to know that he can rein in Tony Romo. I know they have a friendship and that's fine, but I need to know that Garrett is going to hold Romo as accountable as he does other players.

A little late now. Maybe back in April we could've not drafted an injured LB in round 2 or Felix Jr in round 3 and instead gotten some talent who could actually help us. Not to mention the free agency period when we sat around with our thumbs up our arses while the rest of the league filled needs.

It's been well documented how I felt on all 3 of those. How different would this team looked had we drafted Rahim Moore in the 2nd, John Moffitt in the 3rd, and then maybe sign Ricky Williams as a short-yardage back-up RB. Maybe even a veteran CB for depth.
No need to bring back Sensabaugh (a huge plus), Carter is a zero right now (although I think he will be a good player eventually), and to me Murray offers us nothing that Felix doesn't already bring. Moffitt would be a huge upgrade over Nagy.

I'm not sure I make any drastic changes to the roster (not that anything you suggested is drastic).

I think I'd focus our attention towards other teams PS corners (which we may have already). I find it hard to believe there's no one out there with more upside than Ball. He's dead to me.

I'm on board with the Robinson suggestion. That said... played well last night.

And I'd stay away from having any discussions with Garrett about hiring an OC. He's not going to do that. He doesn't need to do it either. I trust in Garrett and I give him two or three years to build this team.

Lastly, I'd hire consultants familiar with Garretts offense to assist the scouts with finding our next QB.

Just because Rahim Moore is starting in Denver, and Carter is still on the PUP doesn't mean we selected the wrong player.

That's very short-sighted thinking.

No but Moore fills a more immediate and huge need. I have yet to be convinced he wasn't worthy of our 2nd round pick. This team had too many holes/needs to take a luxury pick like Carter.

Luxury? They need Carter in this d to cover backs, te's, and blitz. He's going to start next to lee for Years

rahim Moore isn't better than Elam. Why burn a 2nd just because?

Tyron/Ryan Williams/Carter/alex henery would have been sweet.

Lee wasn't a "need" pick last year. I'm sure glad we got him though.

Brookings is near death, and James is on his last year. Carter is an incredible talent trying to get healthy.

In three years, you'll be glad we took him over Moore.

Carter was a great linebacker in college but he was 1)injured and 2) a 4-3 OLB. He will hopefully end up being a damn good linebacker. We just weren't in a position to reasonably take that risk. We needed and still do need, immediate help.

Moore is better than Sensabaugh and that's who we have at Free Safety. Elam starts at Strong Safety.

We may be the only team in NFL history who took a Strong Safety who couldn't cover and moved him to Free Safety.

Yet to be seen.

You are right but I'm pretty comfortable saying it. Sensabaugh is awful so the bar is not very high for Moore to leap over.

Also, why is it okay to assume Carter will be awesome but not okay to predict Moore will be a pretty damn good Free Safety? Is optimisim only allowed with Cowboy youngsters?

Carter was a bad pick...Moore, Gilchrist, Reed, Austin, Paea...I would have taken any of them, and there were plenty of OL I liked better in that spot. I hope he plays well, but he was not a smart pick there. Mason Foster went in the 3rd and I liked him better than Carter coming out.

You're suggesting that he was a wasted "luxury" pick at a position we didn't need.

I disagree with that.

We had a glaring hole at safety, and spent time with Moore in the off season. We knew the player.

He was available to us, and we went in another direction.

I'm trusting in the coaches/scouts.

Luxury pick in the fact we knew he was injured and there was a good chance his 2011 contributions would be minimal. It's great to steal a great player later in the draft. It's my opinion that we weren't in a position to be able to afford to do that.

I am still wasted and partying with Hookers right now. Forgetting about that debacle.

Get back to me on Wednesday

I can't bring myself to focus on anything other than Tony Romo right now.

We had a lead or were tied when he flashed his bad side. At worst we should have lost that game in overtime.

Yeah, the secondary is trash. The interior OL was a problem for a majority of the game and special teams gave up a TD.

Even with all that, the entire team did enough to beat the Jets on the road. Romo made sure we left NY with an L.

Not sure why people are married to the Carter pick...we could have done much better with it than a guy coming off major knee surgery...it is not that difficult. The guy is better suited for a 4-3 as well.
