1st round -- Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon
Extremely athletic SOLB. Was recruited and played for Oregon as a TE, moved to DE 3 years ago, then to a hybrid OLB role last year and has been a standout every year hence. Not a great season sack-wise this year, but still did enough for conference coaches to name him 1st team, All Pac 10. The myth that we can't replace Anthony Spencer's role in the Defense is false, there are a number of draftable players this year that can set the edge. Jordan is one of them, but he also possesses a quick 1st step to take advantage of the double and triple teams Ware faces each game to have an impact in the pass-rush. The sky is the limit for this kid.
2nd round -- Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia
Muslim American. His ethnicity will probably cause a problem among Dallas Cowboy fans as they are the most ultra-conservative fan base in the league. Anyways, Oday is an athletic OT from a school which is putting together a nice, little pipeline of sending offensive lineman into the NFL re Brandon Albert to name one. His best suit is pass-blocking and he has started at both LT and RT at Virginia.
3rd round -- Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma
A couple of seasons ago, Jason Garrett really targeted Andy Dalton in the draft, and last year watched as Bill Belichick drafted Ryan Mallet in the 3rd, so I'm guessing that Garrett takes a QB in either the 2nd or 3rd round this year. Yes, Landry Jones was a huge disappointment as a Boomer but, and I've may have mentioned this in the past on CZ, by and large, NFL prospects aren't graded by what they did in college, rather what that player will do in your system. Obviously if Garrett stays here, his system is one that likes to attack the ball downfield and Landry possesses the height and arm to get it done (same for Payton if he's named our next HC). Or Landry Jones could look great in preseason or filling in for Romo the next time he gets killed by a free blitzer and we ship him off for a 1st round pick. Win/win situation.
4th round -- Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
As everyone knows by now, the reason Otree hasn't been permanently benched is because outside of Dez, we don't have WRs who can excel on the outside. Wheaton can do so and some are even comparing him to Mike Wallace. We could use a Mike Wallace on the outside. A guy like Wheaton on the outside would really open up more things for Dez as he'll see less shading of coverages to his side.
Outside.
5th round -- Hugh Thornton, OL, Illinois
Former top wrestler in high school has started at both OG and OT for like 32 games or something, this year earning 2nd team, All Big East honors as an OT. A lot of the league might be trending towards converting smaller OTs to OG and we get a jump on it, even though Thornton has played OG, which makes the conversion project pretty safe. I doubt we get rid of both Livings and Bernadeau right off the bat, so we get a talented player to push the 2 for playing time.
6th round -- Theo Riddick
You guys always wonder aloud why we don't run any screens to the RBs, the simple reason being that we've never had the RBs to do that. Entering the NFL, there were questions about Felix Jones' ability as a receiver out of the backfield because he was hardly used there and didn't look comfortable when he did. It's become readily apparent that he still and probably never will get it. Riddick switched to WR from RB his Sophomore and Junior years, and back again, so obviously he presents that option. Also has experience returning kicks, so hopefully he pushes Lance '8 foot deep' Dunbar off the roster for good.
