Free Agency:
Sign Andre Smith
re-sign Anthony Spencer
1st -- Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Not much needs to be said here, although he's not being ridiculously labeled the best OG of the past 10 years like DeCastro was hyped as, Cooper is just as good, though probably even better as an athlete.
2nd -- Brandon Jenkins, DE, Florida State
We continue the trend of taking 1st round talents who fall due to injury. Though not the talent of Aldon Smith, he could be used similarly for a couple of years as Smith was as a rookie.
3rd -- Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
Ready-made 3-4 DE. Gives us a heck of a Dline rotation if either him, Crawford or Lissemore wins the other DE spot opposite Hatcher.
4th -- DJ Swearinger, FS, South Carolina
Versatile safety who switches between safety and CB at times at South Carolina. Fits the interchangeable safety system that we like to run and gives us the much needed, physical presence that our secondary has been sorely lacking.
5th -- Zach Sudfeld, TE, Nevada
This is going to be my 5th round pick for awhile.
6th -- Bruce Taylor, ILB, Virginia Tech
Strictly a BPA pick, although with Sean Lee's health somewhat of a concern, this pick could pay huge dividends down the road. Though not near the athlete that Lee and Carter are, he is not the stiff that Dan Connor plays as. Coming off a Linsfranc injury that cut short his Junior year, but that hasn't bothered him at all this year, posting 63 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble. Gives us another pass-rusher as he has collected 15.5 career sacks thus far at VTech.
