Thinking we pick in the middle of the 1st round.
1st: Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas
We need pass-rushers and Jeffcoat is one of the best there is in this class. I know that Dallas likes the other OLB to set the edge opposite of DeMarcus Ware, but I believe Spencer gets extended, and in any event, I think Kyler Wilber has a chance to take over that role. We get an Aldon Smith type presence off the bench immediately in 2013.
2nd: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina
Overshadowed by Jonathan Cooper at NC, but is a prototypical RT who has improved throughout, stepping up big in 2011. I shouldn't say he's a prototypical RT because he has really quick feet. He's very long as well, standing about 6'7". Only complaint I have with him is that when he reaches the 2nd level, he has to do a better job of seeking out targets to hit. Also is sometimes a little late out of his stance, but these things can be coached up.
3rd: Penn State OLB Gerald Hodges
Navarro Bowman-type burst on the scene in 2011 with 106 tackles, 10 for loss, 4.5 sacks, and a INT and 2 forced fumbles. I know it may seem like overkill to add another outstanding ILB, but this defense needs playmakers badly and another Sean Lee type to enforce his will on opponents.
4th: Omoregie Uzzi, OG, Georgia Tech
Picked by me based on his last name alone lol jk although his size may belie this, he's listed about 6'3" 300, he is a mauler. He comes from a funky offense but that's why we have Bill Callahan here, right?
5th: Rashard Hall, S, Clemson
Ball-hawk with 13 career INTs at Clemson thus far, 3 alone this year, 6 as only a Freshman. Possesses great instincts, obviously, though not reflected simply in the INT numbers, and not only that, he has been quite a factor against the run with 123 tackles the last 2 1/4 years.
6th: Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida
Former 4-star recruit out of Florida is off to a great start this year with 69 carries for 402 yards (5.83 ypc) and 5 TDs. Has averaged nearly 6 yards per carry for his career at Florida, adding 15 TDs to date. Is a smooth runner with a nice center of gravity.
7th: Quanterus Smith, DE, Western Kentucky
Victor Butler-type who can be taken out of a game if you run at him, but man, he sho' can get after the QB. He absolutely destroyed Alabama this year with 3 sacks and a forced fumble. Has 6.5 sacks on the year so far, 17 for his career up to date.
booyah!
