1(14) -- Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
Staying true to my board. F if he grew up an Eagle's fan. I want players.
2(45) -- Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
Staying with my last mock with this selection as well.
3(81) -- Alameda Ta'amu, DT, Washington State
Ratliff needs help, and I'm not convinced that Josh Brent is the answer as he no-showed last year when the Cowboys were hoping that he'd take some of the load of off Jay. Ta'amu represents BPA here as well. Huge, impressive athlete who has been dogged by the lazy tag, although he was voted team captain.
4(113) -- Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina
Again we go defense and for good reason. We haven't fielded a reliable cornerback in a few years, but now with the selection of Josh Norman and the signing of Brandon Carr, we look to get 2. Big, physical cornerback who lives off of press-coverage and stood the test at the East-West Shrine game and Senior Bowl.
4(135) -- TY Hilton, WR, Florida International
Finally, offense. I know this pick goes against the grain of me panning the smurf receivers, but if you are going to go small at wideout, you better bring speed to the table, and Hilton brings lots of it. Unofficially at his Pro Day (which is what I'm guessing because this comes from his father) he ran a 4.38 40 against the breeze and a 4.28 with it. And unlike the prototypical slot receiver/returner types, he has the ability to stretch defenses vertically. Has alot of Mike Wallace/DeSean Jackson in him.
5(152) -- Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly
Quickly, back to the defense! We continue to stockpile an impressive collection of talent at CB. This super sleeper was simply a playmaker at the FBS level, returning 3 interceptions for TDs in his career (NCAA Division 1 record) and averaging 18 yards per punt return in 2011. Heck of an athlete too, running sub 4.5 40 times and benching 225, 19 times. We're going to be good to go against Eli Manning.
6(186) -- Andrew Datko, OT, FSU
Athletic OT prospect who is suffering a bit of the Sean Lee dilemma. Injury ruined his 2011 season, but before that started very well for 36 games at LT. Past shoulder and arm injuries are a concern, but if he's able to keep that in his past, we get a steal here. Not a Sean Lee type of steal, but a swing OT who will be able to start successfully should anything happen to one of our starters.
7(222) -- Danny Trevathan, OLB, Kentucky
Special teams pick right here. One of the nation's leading tacklers comes into the fold. Registered 4 INTs last year, so he might turn out to be a bit more than just special teams filler.
