Awaiting judge's decision

The mediation between the NFL and the players has been halted and won't begin again until May 16, according to the Associated Press.

NFL lead negotiator Jeff Pash said today that U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan informed both the league and the players that he has other things tying up his docket.

Meanwhile, both sides are awaiting a decision before that time from District Judge Susah Richard Nelson regarding the players' request for a preliminary injunction to halt the lockout.

Of course, that decision would likely be immediately appealed to the Eighth Circuit. Nelson is expected to rule in favor of the players.

"I think fans want solutions, I want solutions," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "I think the players want solutions and I think the teams want solutions. That's why we have to be working at it in negotiations and figuring out how to get to that point."

Per the report, there's a May 12 hearing before Judge David Doty regarding the players seeking damages. Doty ruled in favor of the players in March, stating that the NFL hasn't sought maximum revenue from its television contracts and ruling a $4 billion lockout fund as not negotiating in good faith.

Plus, there's a Philadelphia law firm that's seeking to represent another group of players.

"We've had discussions about representing some additional players who want to have a voice in the matter," said Bryan Clobes of Cafferty Faucher. "The players have extremely capable counsel. If we were to get involved, it would be so we could add and lend our expertise, not because we thought the current lawyers were not doing a credible job. They're doing an incredible job."
