I've had either Kirkpatrick or Castro as my early favorites for the #14 selection.

Now, with Kirkpatricks arrest for pot possession (******), I don't have an interest in him at all.

So, I'm thinking if not the Stanford Guard, I'm hoping the Cowboys select the best overall front seven player available -- even if that guy doesn't fit an immediate obvious need (Oline, pass rush, secondary).

Which brings me to Kuechly.

If you read his scouting reports, he sounds like a Sean Lee clone.

And really, can you have too many Sean Lee-type players? Love football, relentless in pursuit, good in coverage for an ILB), great work ethic and study habits.

What would everyone elses thoughts be on drafting this kid?

I really like the player but I'd look elsewhere since we have Lee. Kuechly would have to be by far the BPA when we select for me to want to take him, and I doubt that will be the case.

I seriously love this player but you just benched your 2nd rounder from last year. Plus we need wildboyz in the front 7 to pump some blood into the pass rush.

Maybe you can trade Bruce Carter for a late 1 since he's pretty much 100%

Or maybe move Bruce Carter to OLB. He's supposedly this freakish athlete.

I don't think he could set the edge there. Or rush the passer.

I think vontaze Burfict could do it if he falls to around 50

Kuechly has been called a Sean Lee clone. He could very well be the Best Player Available when pick 14 comes up if DeCastro is already gone. So unless we are moving to a 4-3, we'd have to trade down. I like the 2nd round depth in this draft..Ben Jones(Center, Georgia), Chase Minnifield (Cornerback, horrible university), Brandon Boykin (Georgia), Markelle Martin (Oklahoma State), Stephen Gilmore(Cornerback, South Carolina), Bruce Irvin (West Virginia). etc. This is the first time I can remember being comfortable trading down, usually I'm insistent we use our 1st round pick.

I'd take Dont'a Hightower over Luke if he was still on the board at 14. I think he's a great player, just don't know if putting him next to Lee in the 34 would be ideal. Rather have the bigger, more physical player in Hightower, who also has some good pass rushing skills.

Don't be so quick to count this out...

Like the player, but he isnt a need at all unless they are contemplating some other role for Bruce Carter. I cant imagine what that would be, so I'm thinking LK has zero chance of being drafted by us.

I'm not that hung up on the whole 3-4 thing.

Ryan runs a multiple defense.

He'll put the best players on the field, no matter the front.

I mean, if this guy has the chance to be as good as Lee... I'd hate to pass on that kind of talent.

I'd be willing to bet the Cowboys will have a very high grade on Kuechly.

Can you really have enough smart, heady, quick, coverage linebackers when you have to play pass happy offenses with explosive tight ends and receiving backs all over the place?

I mean, he'd go a long way towards helping our defense match against Philly, for example.

If they think Bruce Carter is the real deal, where/when would Kuechly play? Obviously they think a ton of Carter because they used a premium pick on him last yr despite knowing this year would be basically a redshirt year.

If Carter was a guy they could project to OLB in the 3-4, maybe I could see this. But he doesnt.
