Daniel Loper re-signed, Chris Jones cut

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys re-signed offensive lineman Daniel Loper on Tuesday and cut punter Chris Jones, which is a sign they believe Mat McBriar will be available for the rest of the season even with a nerve condition that affects his left foot.
McBriar missed the Nov. 6 game vs. Seattle and Jones responded with a 43-yard average on three punts. He is eligible to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers, but there have been teams in need of a punter.
McBriar punted one time Sunday vs. Buffalo and has said the leg is improving. He has to wear a brace to help raise his toes but he said the pain is bearable. Even with McBriar punting, he is not likely to return to his holder role because that puts stress on his leg. Tony Romo has handled the holder spot the last two games.
Loper has been cut in each of the last two weeks in order to make room for practice squad call ups Jones and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.
