While there are some potential first-round picks at most positions here at the Senior Bowl, that’s not really the case at wide receiver.

The top three prospects, from most draft analysts and experts, are all underclassmen, including Georgia’s A.J. Green and Alabama’s Julio Jones.

Probably, the top receiver here in Mobile this week is Boise State’s Titus Young, who seems a little rough around the edges in some areas, except one – speed.

This guy can really go. I was standing next to an AFC assistant coach who blurted out: “This Titus can fly back to Boise if he wanted to. That’s how fast he is.”

Ok, so a little corny, but you get the point. Titus Young might not be the best prospect here, but he’s certainly the fastest.

And when you think about what the Cowboys might need at this position, they could always need some speed. Let’s say Roy Williams does come back, and Dez Bryant returns from the injury with no problems as expected. And you’ve got those two with Miles Austin.

Now Austin can stretch the field, but you still could use a real track-star type of blazer. Of course, if you wait unitl the middle rounds for that, he’s going to have some flaws. Usually with those speed guys, it’ll be things like he’s too small, or he’s got character issues, or he’s not tough, or inconsistent hands.

Hmmm, I think I just described DeSean Jackson’s profile when he was coming out of Cal.

Either way, the Cowboys could always use some speed and if they’re looking closely here at the Senior Bowl, Titus Young might be the best guy for that.

Then again, they just re-signed Titus Ryan. How many receivers named Titus can one team really have?
