There's a rumor floating around that Mankins to Dallas could happen. He was about to sign an extension with New England when they apparently asked for an apology to the owner and he got pissed and broke off talks.

Anyway, this is where the rumor comes from....

Mike Reiss
Dallas could be an option

"I think the Cowboys would be a natural trading partner for the Patriots with Mankins. Because a lot of stars have to be aligned -- a team has to give up the compensation and the big contract -- it makes a trade harder to pull off. But the Cowboys have shown in the past that they are willing to make such a trade (e.g. Roy Williams). I think the Patriots would take a second-round pick in a trade."

It's from ESPN Insider. Just a writer thinking out loud at what makes sense next. It'd be nice, but probably not happening.

Now this would be an awesome pick up, and a huge upgrade to our line.

Well of course, it's all bullshit until proof is posted, but it would make sense.

If that asshole moderator ever changes another thread title of mine, I'll be out.

Don't use misleading thread titles, and they won't need to be changed.

What did he do change the thread title?

It was originally titled "Logan Mankins Rumor."

I changed the word "rumor" to "speculation."

There is no rumor . . . just an ESPN Insider speculating that Mankins might be a fit here.

It's the same as if some Joe Journalist suggested that, to replace Ryan Grant, the Packers could seek a trade with running back depth like Dallas and Tashard Choice. That's speculation. Completely different than the writer reporting his sources suggest Green Bay called Dallas and inquired about the availability of TC.

I was referring to the thread on the other board that most here frequent. The one titled RUMOR.

That was the point of this thread. That if you're reading about this rumor elsewhere know that its merely a guess by an ESPN writer.

Shit, I think the link is broken, oh well.

That's where it's from though. I don't have Insider, haven't since the ESPN days.

I'm actually suprised ESPN Insider is still around.

With so many blogs and media outlets out there . . . it's become obsolete. There's too much of a rush by the Schefters, Claytons, Werders, etc to break a story.

If anything has any legs . . . these guys are falling over themselves to break the story or confirm the story.

Yeah, I pretty much rely on Adam Schefter. He knows his shit.

He knew his shit when he was with NFL Network, but since he joined ESPN... he's as much a hack as the rest.

I just think he doesn't want to steal Mortenson's thunder. lol

I did like him better at NFL Network though.
