Lockout hurting team building

IRVING, Texas -- NFL coaches like to say the bond of a team is formed in the offseason when nobody is looking. In a normal offseason, most of the Cowboys would be at Valley Ranch taking part in the conditioning program.
With the lockout, this is not a normal offseason and one of the Cowboys’ best hires was luring strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik, so his talents are not being put to use yet.
“It’s a big adjustment for me because usually you have your team there and that’s when you talk about the blood, sweat and tears,” Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. “It’s always good to work out together and now everybody’s dispersed. But they’re working in Irving, Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, Frisco. We’re still finding ways to get the guys together and build unity.”
One will come Sunday when Ware and former Cowboy Preston Pearson host the Taste of the NFL: The Ultimate Cowboy Tailgate Party at the Gaylord Texan on Sunday that benefits the North Texas Food Bank.
“A lot of guys are going to show because it benefits a great cause,” Ware said.
