Sometimes you can’t go off of what the analysts of NFL Network or ESPN consider to be team needs.

Yeah, they’ve got a list of positions for every team and for the Cowboys it says things like OT, S, DE and CB. All of those are needs for sure.

But let’s not forget the Cowboys have said all along they’ve got more than just a handful of positions to improve. Both Jerry and Stephen Jones said it last week and they’ve stuck to it.

Regardless what people think about the RB position, it’s clearly a need. Yes, Marion Barber will probably be released once free agency begins. But we shouldn’t have assumed Tashard Choice will now be the No. 2 back. This is a guy the Cowboys have consistently not played for whatever the reason.

While fans seem to love him, the Cowboys and the coaching staff just don’t feel the same. Not to say he won’t be on the team, but his situation is probably not changing too much.

With the addition of Oklahoma’s DeMarco Murray, who is a proven pass-catcher out of the backfield and was praised on his willingness to block for the quarterback, it’s likely the Cowboys have found their true third-down back. And that’s not just on third-and-12, but maybe third-and 1 or 2 as well.

You don’t take a running back in the third round and call him your third back on the depth chart. I think it will be Felix and then Murray, with Choice again having to fight and scratch for some touches.

While it seems logical to assume Barber won’t be in the plans next year, apparently it’s not because of Choice.

This might not have been a need that other people thought, but it’s one the Cowboys had on their minds all along.

Reading Nick Eatman brings back memories of being forced to eat my vegetables as a child.

Choice was intriguing two years ago. It's safe to say that we know what we have with him, he's not a talent that you'd hate lose.

Agreed. No biggie if he is gone.

I liked Murray from the start, and I also wanted Taiwan Jones, but I'm happy with the outcome.
