A few days ago, we told you about the positive drug test supplied by Ohio State tackle Mike Adams, and how silly it was for Adams to get caught with drugs in his system at the NFL combine. You know what's even sillier than testing positive for drugs at what amounts to a job interview that could pay you millions of dollars?

Allegedly punching a cop in the face less than a week before you find out your next job.

Yet, that's what Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard supposedly accomplished early Saturday morning, and according to the Omaha World Herald, he was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault on an officer, another third-degree assault charge relating to a bar fight and resisting arrest.

Dennard was slated by many draft observers as worth between a second- and fourth-round pick in next week's draft (though, at one point in January, CBSSports.com's Rob Rang thought Dennard could be a first-round pick).

Wrote Rang three months ago: “The Cowboys' defense made gains under Rob Ryan, but inconsistencies in the secondary led to plenty of breakdowns. Sources tell me the Cowboys were very intrigued last year with Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara. Perhaps they'll pull the trigger on a Husker cornerback this time around with the short but physical Dennard, who many scouts are giving a higher grade to this season than they did his former teammate at this same time last year."

But Dennard's stock seems to have fallen in recent months, and this arrest certainly won't help.

According to Lincoln, Neb., police, the 22-year-old Dennard was fighting with another man outside a bar at 2:15 a.m. When officers tried to break it up, Dennard allegedly pushed and then punched an officer in the face. Police said it took four officers to secure and arrest Dennard.

This isn't the first time this year Dennard has been caught fighting. He also got ejected from the 2012 Capital One Bowl for tussling with South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffrey.

“I take that blame,” Dennard said after the game. “I'm not that type of person. I think (NFL teams) know that."

At this point, though, that might be a much harder claim to make.
