I remember him playing for Nebraska when they dominated college football back in the mid 90s. Never thought this is how it would turn out for him 20 years later.

He was such a bad boy because he banged his head in a football helmet a few times. Gtfo with this horseshit.

While I believe CTE is real, is it really inconceivable to think he was just a shitty human being who happened to play football.

This world is full of depressed, confused, misguided, low character souls regardless of what profession , sport, or walk of life they derived from.

From what I've read, he was actually well behaved in prison and wouldn't fall in line with the gangs. His cellmate, which was a cousin of former USC receiver and Jaguar first round pick RJ Soward, was a prison gang member. Phillips was a shitty human but I don't think its inconceivable that the gang guy started it.

I wouldn't have any idea who started what but it's reported Phillips ended it.
